The Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas certainly made a splash in January 2011. Technological advancements like tablets and 3D televisions almost couldn’t be topped…almost. Until the attendees saw the Lady Gaga glasses, that is. Then all bets were off.
Gaga Glasses
Actually a very innovative product, the glasses are a stylish pair of large framed glasses. Lady Gaga herself designed the glasses as part of her product line, Grey Line, and the glasses are stunning in themselves. More stunning, though, is what the glasses can do for the user. Teaming with Polaroid, Gaga’s artistry and Polaroid’s commitment to excellence have produced a winner: the GL20 Camera Glasses. The sunglasses can take snapshots of everything the viewer sees. With a camera placed on the bridge, the wearer’s sight line is caught exactly as seen by her own two eyes.
The glasses don’t stop there, though. They can display the photos on the lenses for others to see, and a USB port is built in for easy download to a computer. The port also allows for easy uploads of a person’s personal photography collection, allowing wearers to display and express vast amounts of personality on the lenses in a singular, stylish design.
Gaga sure doesn’t need a poker face to deliver this straight product. Technology enthusiasts, photographers, artists and fashionistas alike will be excited about the possibilities in the GL20 Camera Glasses: a digital camera, fashion forward design, and artistic expression in one product has never been seen in this context before. It may be more exciting to see the snapshots from Gaga’s own red carpet walks, but the camera could catch the beauty in everyday life. The candid shots and real life relaxation could take users to new levels of photography. Or they could just be a really fun way for people to connect.
